the definition of cause & effect
A cause is something that produces an event or condition; an effect is what results from an event or condition. The purpose of the cause-and-effect essay is to determine how various phenomena relate in terms of origins and results.or a common way to organize an information in a text, paragraphs structured as cause and effect explain why something happend or a the effect of something.
the generic structure of cause & effect
The cause and effect paragraph has the following structure or generic structure:
1. Have a main idea on the topic of sentences that will be covered in the whole paragraph.
2. Have supporting details or supporting sentences in the form of causes.
3. End with a concluding sentence or a conclusion in the form of a result.
Language Form
The cause and effect paragraph has the following style.
1. Using tenses that are dependent on the context of the time in a sentence, in other words, can be the past tense, present tense, or future tense.
2. Many use verbs or verbs in active and passive sentences.
3. Using transitions such as due to, because, consequently, as a result , and causes .
4. Using third person point of view.
Hence
- He wants to take a leak . Hence , he looks so hurry .

- She was starved . Hence , she was pale .
- (she was starved . hence, he was pale)
For this reason
- He can play that game in days without doing anything else . For this reason , I call him 'maniac' .
- (He is able to play this game for days without doing anything. For this reason , I call him a 'maniac')
- My grandfather always hugs me so hard . For this reason , I always hide when he comes to my place .
- (My grandfather always hugged me tightly. For this reason , I always hide when he comes to my place)
- He always helps people around him who are in trouble. For this reason, I secretly like him.
- (He always helps those around him who are in trouble. For this reason , I secretly like him)
So
- Momo was allowed to eat cookies for dessert so she was happy.
- (Momo is allowed to eat cookies for dessert so he's happy)
- She ate too much this morning , so she fell asleep in the afternoon .
- (He ate too much this morning , so he fell asleep in the afternoon)
- He forgot to lock the door , so the burglar could go in easily .
- (He forgot to lock the door, so the bulglar could go in easily)
Example of a Cause and Effect Paragraph
In composition, cause and effect is a method of paragraph or essay development in which a writer analyzes the reasons for—and/or the consequences of—an action, event, or decision. A cause-and-effect paragraph or essay can be organized in various ways
Paragraph Cause and Effect
Drought which is happened this year is very long. Even, in the last two month almost there was no rain. Moreover, with the very hot weather makes surface of the soil is cracked and dry and causes the dust is flying away. In addition, the water that is stored in the irrigation couldn't be found anymore, so that there is no water which is flowing the farmers' rice. As a result, they suffered a failure in harvesting because the rice they planted is failed to grow caused by this drought.

A. Read the following sentences. Decide if the words in bold are the cause orthe effect. Write cause or effect on the line. Then, underline the "signal" word or phrase.
1. Early man used weapons because they needed to find food.

B. Read the cause, write the effect, then write the complete sentence using signal words. The first one has been done for you.

Effect: All the flights were cancelled.

2. Cause: She ate too much.
Effect: She threw up
Sentence: She threw up because she ate too much.
3. Cause: I ran out of money.
Effect: I can't buy some food
Sentence: I ran out of money, therefore I can't buy some food.
4. Cause: He is afraid to fly.
Effect: He never goes anywhere far
Sentence: He is afraid to fly; therefore, he never goes anywhere far.
5. Cause: After the car accident
Effect: She stayed in the hospital for a week.
Sentence: Because of the car accident, she stayed in the hospital for a week.

Edo: Ehmm, ..uh... fine, it's due to Carol's hobby. She's so into doing exercise at the gym with attarctive outfit. I feel that I need to accompany her so that none would tease her.
Si: Whoa? That tall Carol, with her glowing body? Hmm, no wonder.
B. Write a cause and effect conversaon on forest fires in Sumatra.
A: Hey, Beto, did you see the news about the forest fire?
B: No, not really. What about it?
A: What about it? Gee, it's in Southern Sumatra, dude. Isn't your brother working there?
B: Yeah, he used to but he ain't there any longer because of his wife's inconvenience living there.
A: Oh, I didn't know that.
B: Well, it's OK. By the way, talking about what you were asking. In that area, I guess, the forest fire is inevitable as there have been many housing estate developer trying to cut down trees and transforming it into a housing estate area or tourist attraction.
A: I see, no wonder that the reason of that fire was because of the intentional burning who was done by one the the neighbours. I saw it from the news.
